MP Farah Abdulkadir’s campaign speech at parliament
MP Farah Abdulkadir who is among candidates contesting for the 1st deputy speaker of the new parliament presented his campaign speech at Parliament Hall in Mogadishu on Sunday.
During his speech to the MPs, he has talked about his past achievements, that included his role to reshape the justice system, and reviewing the draft constitution of the country during his tenure as justice minister.
“I was born in 7 months under a tree in a rural village, my dad said this baby will pass away after 7 days, but my mom has disagreed and wished me long life,” MP Farah said.
“My mom prayed for me to become one who defends his religion, people and country and that is what I’m today and will be in my life.”
Mr Abdulkadir has reiterated his commitment to serve the interest of the Somali people if he is elected to the deputy speaker of the lower house chamber.
Lastly, Farah Abdulkadir who held several positions in the last government, including minister of justice and constitution has asked the new MPs to vote for him to win the race for 1st deputy of the speaker.
However, the new parliament is scheduled to elect speaker and his two deputies next Thursday, and subsequently will vote for a new president before the end of January.
